These shoes, handmade within China’s manufacturing networks, feature inverted soles—a trick swapping the heel and sole to mislead customs officers—historically used along the Belgium–Netherlands border so authorities would follow smugglers’ tracks in the wrong direction. During the journey of delivery, there were many accidents that went beyond what was originally planned. Yezi was once warned not to shoot. In doing so, the project recalls historical tales of smuggling shoes but also revealing the contradictions of production, identity, and circulation in the networked present. <img width="1424" height="809" width_o="1424" height_o="809" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/229ecffcb7ea837df4906588e186765689c55bed17e45a368ac32e4afdb2e7ba/2026-09-15-06.32.15.png" data-mid="252398167" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/229ecffcb7ea837df4906588e186765689c55bed17e45a368ac32e4afdb2e7ba/2026-09-15-06.32.15.png" /> <img width="2478" height="1382" width_o="2478" height_o="1382" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/954c10dd96495f81e148b65260ecc1d1649e1ffb5ddfd843f18351772553905a/2025-06-23-22.49.33.png" data-mid="241775266" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/954c10dd96495f81e148b65260ecc1d1649e1ffb5ddfd843f18351772553905a/2025-06-23-22.49.33.png" /> <img width="3840" height="2160" width_o="3840" height_o="2160" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/124fd2b5adf1de5363de1cd3762fdefe32b72950841a54097083f32c65f50b0d/Order-.Still012-1.jpg" data-mid="241775645" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/124fd2b5adf1de5363de1cd3762fdefe32b72950841a54097083f32c65f50b0d/Order-.Still012-1.jpg" /> <img width="3840" height="2160" width_o="3840" height_o="2160" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/a887c1211f59b9510cd82e759ad6fa41cf6efdd295ce695416b50a3cb5262080/Beer-.Still009-1.jpg" data-mid="241775405" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/a887c1211f59b9510cd82e759ad6fa41cf6efdd295ce695416b50a3cb5262080/Beer-.Still009-1.jpg" /> <img width="3840" height="2160" width_o="3840" height_o="2160" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/873b27f0f98a6b1dd8fbb99204bd9fe34a973d78dd778d91776f91035c29d81f/Running-scene-4-.Still008.jpg" data-mid="241775263" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/873b27f0f98a6b1dd8fbb99204bd9fe34a973d78dd778d91776f91035c29d81f/Running-scene-4-.Still008.jpg" /> <img width="2542" height="1632" width_o="2542" height_o="1632" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/ecea9bac5ae34b7e2e84b2ce5d88afee21dd6962d64acdef36e9859a40f9fe68/2025-12-13-21.02.10.png" data-mid="241775264" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/ecea9bac5ae34b7e2e84b2ce5d88afee21dd6962d64acdef36e9859a40f9fe68/2025-12-13-21.02.10.png" /> https://yeziilin.cargo.site/Snake-Give-Me-A-Chance-of-Rebirth Fri, 21 Mar 2025 17:50:52 +0000 Yezi https://yeziilin.cargo.site/Snake-Give-Me-A-Chance-of-Rebirth Snake, Give Me A Chance of Rebirth（2023-2024） 18 mins In the ancient legends of "Fuxi" and "Nuwa," snake gods with human heads were believed to have created life. In contemporary migration stories, the serpent stirs people's desires, guiding them on a journey of migration. Does it offer rebirth, act as a savior, or embody a malevolent force? The artist has categorized the immigrant community into distinct individuals, each turning their aspirations into shelters along the path of migration. These symbols, characterized by surrealism, underpin a glorified and delicate tale of migration. <img width="2880" height="1800" width_o="2880" height_o="1800" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/fa50a4cbfce51477362e1b9fe593d5e58b2d764ce99768b13e01503bd30c0bb3/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.51.51.png" data-mid="228604214" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/fa50a4cbfce51477362e1b9fe593d5e58b2d764ce99768b13e01503bd30c0bb3/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.51.51.png" /> <img width="2662" height="1800" width_o="2662" height_o="1800" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/5e3ce7e669b805b8fcabd9d790f635a678d22b02755638691b03dd2f88bab6d5/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.52.40.png" data-mid="228604216" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/5e3ce7e669b805b8fcabd9d790f635a678d22b02755638691b03dd2f88bab6d5/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.52.40.png" /> <img width="2880" height="1800" width_o="2880" height_o="1800" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/f809c84049fa9fe553ee47ee13b08c366d6d3a0c0b58d21ce44d594381ebda5d/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.51.32.png" data-mid="228604217" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/f809c84049fa9fe553ee47ee13b08c366d6d3a0c0b58d21ce44d594381ebda5d/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.51.32.png" /> <img width="2880" height="1800" width_o="2880" height_o="1800" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/0a961421e0f4bbdc408679974c287a8da5bdc3653333cfc6c745fdb891d07932/Screenshot-2024-06-18-at-01.17.08.png" data-mid="228604219" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/0a961421e0f4bbdc408679974c287a8da5bdc3653333cfc6c745fdb891d07932/Screenshot-2024-06-18-at-01.17.08.png" /> <img width="2880" height="1800" width_o="2880" height_o="1800" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/3cf27626b6d609927cf76dbfe95ce2b062b676ef391f3cbb47284478b012549d/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.53.38.png" data-mid="228604213" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/3cf27626b6d609927cf76dbfe95ce2b062b676ef391f3cbb47284478b012549d/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.53.38.png" /> <img width="2880" height="1800" width_o="2880" height_o="1800" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b7edd6be62671888e6b329d8385f80bafbfc849f5025cde7ce14fc51ec25d081/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.52.12.png" data-mid="228604218" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/b7edd6be62671888e6b329d8385f80bafbfc849f5025cde7ce14fc51ec25d081/Screenshot-2024-07-15-at-13.52.12.png" /> https://yeziilin.cargo.site/The-palace-of-memory-1 Fri, 21 Mar 2025 17:50:53 +0000 Yezi https://yeziilin.cargo.site/The-palace-of-memory-1 The palace of memory Photography&nbsp;I spent my childhood in a town surrounded by mountains and water, surrounded by the open grandeur and clear and distant mood of ancient Chinese landscape paintings. Currently, I have been living in the city for more than a decade, but the sense of alienation from the city still lingers. It dawns on me that the intimacy with nature in my early childhood is like a butterfly effect that incites all perceptions of life in the future. So I went back to the place where I lived as a child, and the stories that used to happen surfaced in the space, transforming my hazy memories into weighty visualized language. The images are based on several experiences from my childhood, combining photography and words to express the awareness of life elements in nature at a tender age. I want to display a poetic space that is quiet, mysterious, and full of tension. This is my path to my own self and my first acquaintance with the world, a path of purity and power. <img width="1942" height="993" width_o="1942" height_o="993" Through the journey of the protagonist, Huoshan, the story delves into a wide range of issues including the tension between fantasy and reality, freedom, identity, cultural conflict, and social concerns. Huoshan’s journey becomes a site of struggle between her internalized Orientalism and her disillusionment with Western culture. Drawing from the author’s observations, interviews with friends, and reflections on lived experiences, the story captures the nuances of a cross-cultural existence. Huoshan’s experiences prompt a deep reckoning with her own upbringing, racial consciousness, and the intense self-loathing that arises in different cultural frameworks, ultimately opening a broader discussion on acceptance and belief <img width="3508" height="2480" width_o="3508" height_o="2480"
